Trust the Crust
This fragrance arrived as a little sample with my very first supplier order. She included it because, among all the elaborate fragrances she carried, this wonderfully simple one was her favourite.
I put it aside for almost a year because I assumed pie crust was meant to be blended. Blueberry pie, perhaps. Maybe strawberry rhubarb. Then I smelled it again and had one of those, “Wait a minute, let me smell that again,” moments.
It did not need fruit, spice or anything else competing for attention. It simply needed the chance to be exactly what it was.
Creamed butter, flour, milk and vanilla come together like the golden, flaky edge of a pie warming in the oven. There is no filling and very little sweetness. It just adds a soft, buttery pastry warmth to the air.
This is a wonderful candle to burn while company is over or through supper. It creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere without competing with the meal. It is also one of my easiest candles to give as a gift because it is familiar, comforting and difficult not to like.
The fragrance itself feels light, but the throw is Soft and Room Filling. It gently travels throughout the space like real pastry baking in the oven, minus the work and the hydro bill.
