Wax Sabbath
I had this fragrance sitting on my shelf for ages. Every time I smelled it, I knew I loved it, but I could not figure out where it belonged. Then it finally introduced itself. Of course it was the Prince of Darkness.
I originally created this candle last year, before we lost Ozzy. The Butcher and I watched The Osbournes religiously, and I still consider it one of the greatest reality shows ever made. Bringing this candle back now feels like more than a restock. It is a little tribute to someone who was mysterious, outrageous, oddly tender and completely himself.
Rum, saffron and blackberry open with a dark hint of sweetness. Clary sage and leather give it a polished edge, while musk and patchouli settle into something deep, warm and velvety. It is moody, but not gloomy. Dark, but never harsh. The touch of blackberry makes it far more inviting than the name may suggest.
This candle is definitely Strong. It fills the room confidently, but the notes remain smooth and beautifully balanced.
Whether your playlist leans toward Black Sabbath or Fred Astaire, this fragrance somehow finds the middle. It is mysterious enough to be interesting and smooth enough for almost anyone to love.
